Our theme—Men Growing Men

Get in touch with the strength, warmth and equality that nature has given us. Grow and enjoy learning and sharing experiences from all walks of life about respect, happiness, sadness, grief, healing love, and much, much more. Workshops will allow men to explore how they can create possibilities for transformation in their lives based around the sub-themes of Mind – Body – Spirit.

Why go to a Men's Gathering?

Open Ground men's gatherings are recognised internationally for providing life-changing programmes and creating a strong community of men. Open Ground allows men from a wide range of backgrounds to connect with other men, to forge new friendships and to develop as a man through a series of high-quality workshops and activities over the weekend. 

Open Ground is a safe, non-judgemental, supportive space where you choose what you want to do—be it a workshop, relaxing, talking, swimming, taking quiet personal time for reflection or making new friends. It's totally up to you! The atmosphere is light and welcoming. Each man is treated with absolute respect as to his level of participation. 

Who attends a Men's Gathering?

Men from 18 to 80+ from all walks of life, careers and social gathering. We find there is no typical attendee. What we do find is that men who attend are usually seeking a better way to define themselves and a better way to live their lives. Open Ground is open to all men from any background, religious, political or sexual persuasion. We encourage freedom for men to be real with themselves and other men.

About Camp Tinaroo

Camp Tinaroo is situated on a bush-covered peninsula on Lake Tinaroo on the Atherton Tablelands, approximately 1 hour 15 minutes drive west from Cairns on the Kennedy Highway via Kuranda, Mareeba and Tolga. Activities include beach volley ball, canoeing, fishing, swimming and bush walking.

Why not extend your stay in Cairns?

The organizers of Cairns Open Ground 2010 are interested to hear from Men wanting to extend their stay before or after the weekend of 30 July-1 August. Cairns men are offering billeting for the days before and after the weekend. We are also organising a reef trip for the Monday after the gathering which will cost between $110 and $130 lunch and snorkelling including for anyone who would like to join us for a fun day out. Why not make it a road trip?

Flights Brisbane-Cairns with Virgin are now $149 one-way but, if you like the idea of a road trip, Scott is keeping a list of men interested in car-pooling. Email him to get on the list or call 07 3102 4777 Monday through Wednesday.

If you will be facilitating a workshop at Open Ground Cairns and are travelling from Brisbane or interstate, your registration cost will be the special low-low cost of only $50! When your workshop brief is accepted we will advise you how to access this special price.
